We reduce conflict and provide peace. 

Eldercaring Coordination is the product of an unprecedented collaboration between twenty Florida state wide and twenty US/Canadian organizations committed to improving the lives of elders and their families.

We have seen that some families confronted with a situation where an elder loved one is losing the capacity to care for him or herself, or the capacity to make significant decisions, will begin quarreling among themselves about what to do.  Proceedings are filed with the Court and the family’s various positions are argued.  In the interim, decisions over the care of the elder loved one are delayed and the elder is in the midst of the quarreling.  The Court ends up micro-managing this delicate and time-sensitive situation, making decisions that really belong to the family, not the Court.

Eldercaring Coordination is a dispute resolution option specifically for those high-conflict cases involving issues related to the care and needs of elders. Eldercaring Coordination is meant to compliment, not replace, other services such as provision of legal information or legal representation, financial management or advice, mediation, individual/family therapy or care management, medical , psychological or psychiatric evaluation/treatment.

Where we are:

Two Task Forces developed Eldercaring Coordination to address this important time of transition in the lives of elders and their families in conflict.  The Florida Task Force was put together by the Florida Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (FLAFCC), a multi-disciplinary professional organization devoted to the ideal of putting families in a better position when they leave the court system than what they are in when they enter the court system.

The Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) created the broad, over-arching framework necessary to guide state implementation that would be fair and just, responsive and respectful, compassionate and effective.
